PEN did EIA studies of both onshore and offshore parts of Phase 12 of South Pars Gas Field Development Project in 2010. The project aim was to production of 3 billion cubic feet per day of gas out of 45 wells situated at the gas reservoirs located in the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf between Iran and Qatar. In the onshore facilities, the sour gas, condensates and other impurities collected from offshore facilities and made ready-to-consume upon their separation. After being sweetened in the 6 gas processing rows, the sour gas is injected into the IGAT VI for domestic consumption. The condensates separated in the refinery section are exported through sub-sea pipeline and SBM. Upon completion of this Project, it will be feasible to transfer 2 billion cubic feet per day of the sour gas to LNG production facilities constructed in the adjacent area.

PEN successfully carried out the environmental impact assessment studies (EIA) of South Pars Gas field – Phase 12 including onshore gas refinery, intake, desalination unit, brine pipeline, marine pipelines, platforms, well’s drilling. PEN was the first and the only environmental consultant that has achieved the environmental permission in the PSEEZ. It should be noted that Phase 12 of South Pars Gas Field is the greatest project in the history of Iran’s oil industry which has become productive.

The Siraf refineries complex is a gas condensate refinery. It is located at the on the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf and Siraf region of Bushehr province, between 13th and 19th phases of the South Pars gas field over an area of approximately 283 hectares. The site area is about 283 hectares, with a potential capacity to process 480,000 bpd of gas condensate. This complex consists of eight independent refineries with common facilities and infrastructure units with a capacity to process 60,000 bpd of gas condensate. Three alternatives initially considered for the proposed refinery and finally east of Kangan alternative in PSEEZ II selected as the superior choice. The hydrocarbon condensate feed mainly supplies from existing sources and this location has access to the IGAT and gas condensate as feed for the refineries. Moreover, infrastructures such as jetty, seawater intake, power grid, etc. reduce the total investment cost of this complex a lot. The complex will produce 19.6 million tons of refined products, including Euro-V gas oil and will expand Iran’s refining capacity by 22%. It creates 17,000 jobs during the construction phase and a further 2,000 direct jobs once operational.

The governments of Iran and Oman signed an agreement in 2013 for the construction of the marine pipeline, comprising both onshore and offshore segments. Iran will export 28.3 mcm (1 bcf) of gas to Oman per day via a subsea pipeline within 15 years, according to the agreement signed between Tehran and Muscat in 2013. The pipeline is to transport natural gas to the Omani industrial hub at Sohar, where around a third of the gas will be destined for liquefaction at the Oman LNG plant. Experiencing the international offshore pipeline studies in “Iran- Oman 36” Export Gas Marine Pipeline” is another successful work in 2016. In this international project, PEN cooperated with the consortium AETS Omani Company, Horizon, IntechSea, Fugro and IOEC in Iran- Oman 36” Export Gas Marine Pipeline. PEN succeeded to obtain permission from Iran Environmental Protection Agency and Ministry of Environment and Climate Affair of Oman (MECA).

In 2010, this company carried out environmental impact assessments of the Tehran oil depot the country’s largest one in Iran. The client was National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company. The project is located between the cities of Karaj and Shahriar in the province of Alborz. Tehran’s West oil depot facilities include crude oil storage tanks, diesel, jet fuels, gasoline and petroleum, which received products through pipelines, tank trucks and trains with discharge pumps. Due to capacity increase of the refineries and the need to meet future demands, it is essential to develop various oil depots to store products from these refineries, which this project has been implemented in this regard.

EIA studies of Farzad A & B Gas Field have provided an opportunity for PEN to improve its experience of the offshore studies in North Pars. Farzad B gas field is an Iranian natural gas field that was discovered in 2012. It began production in 2013 and produces natural gas and condensates. Farzad-A gas field is located in Farsi block with a distance of 100 Km from Persian Gulf coastline.
Farzad Gas Field Development Projects handed over to PEN by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and PEN evaluated the environmental effects of the gas fields of Farzad A and B in 2011.

Because of the great resume, Total Company accepted PEN in its vendor list. PEN with two companies from UK and three other companies from France, is the only Iranian consultant that placed in the vendor list of contractors for environmental studies and the social studies of “Total Oil Company”. PEN as the only Iranian consultant company in above vendor list for environmental and social studies in Phase 11 of PSEEZ won the tender at the end of 2016 and completed the Environmental social baseline studies (ESBS) with the collaboration of Fugro (Dutch Company). PEN did the EIA studies of Phase 11 in cooperation with SLR (French Company) but unfortunately, due to the re-imposition of sanctions, the project abandoned incompletely. It was a great experience. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a new approach to environmental assessment, global in scope, which considers the environmental impacts of policies, plans and programs. It is already in use in a number of countries and is rapidly being adopted by those involved with environmental management and regulation, including governments, official and voluntary sector agencies, academic courses and consultancies. PEN as a reliable consultant for the Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone, has carried out the first official (SEA) studies in Iran with the aim of industrial development planning in the Chabahar Free Zone. These studies were completed in May 1396. The area is approximately 14,000 hectares in the north of Chabahar Bay.
